POSITIONS
Manufacturing Engineer :

Position Summary:

Provide effective manufacturing-engineering support to develop, direct, and implement the systems, technologies, processes, and methods used for the manufacturing of Aerosonic products with particular focus on the mechanical and machining-related components and assemblies.

Scope of Responsibilities: 

  • Manage multiple projects to drive team goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate projects effectively all segments of the organization and team members.
  • Provide leadership for Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives that optimize precision-machining: systems, processes, quality, reliability, and costs.
  • Create and maintain a system of accurate and detailed CNC and manual-machining set-up and operating instructions with clear, concise, and organized documentation.
  • Develop projects to reduce set up time for key machine centers using SMED and other lean techniques.
  • Assist in creating valid standard times for capacity and financial planning.
  • Implement and maintain a system of optimal material removal-rates standards.
  • Contribute to product-design within NPI process using DFM tools.
  • Analyze product designs for accuracy and submit ECR’s to correct discrepancies.
  • Devise or revise machining-processes to achieve optimized product manufacturing.
  • Develop and deploy effective CNC-machining strategies with best-in-class CAM software systems, including post-processor development and on-line shop-floor documentation for 2 to 5 axis machining centers.
  • Disposition discrepant products, perform failure mode analysis including DOE, and develop corrective actions plans to eliminate the possibility of future failures.

Reporting Relationships:

This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.   This position does not have any direct reports but will be tasked to lead teams as required by the business.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering within the precision machining industries, with DOD or Aerospace preferred.  Electronic / Electromechanical product experience a definite plus.

Education:

Candidate must have BSME or BSIE, or the equivalent experience of 10 years in a progressively responsible manufacturing engineering role. 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must possess an in-depth knowledge of; precision-machining processes, mill, turn, punch, hob, broach, and grind; multi-axis CNC technology; CAD/CAM software; post-processors development; material removal-rate specifications; fixture and tool design; and GDT.
  • Must be a goal-driven and team-oriented engineer ready to contribute continuous improvement strategies to manufacturing systems and processes.
  • Must be an energetic, enthusiastic, adaptable, detail oriented, problem solver with excellent computer and software skills who enjoys new challenges every day.
  • Must have a good understanding of: Cost Estimation and Analysis, Capacity Planning, Lean Manufacturing, 5-S, DFM/DFA, FMEA, SPC, DOE, ERP, MES, and BOM’s.
  • Must be able to develop precision machining solutions and documentation that assures the product quality and customer’s satisfaction are consistently exceeded. Experience with process planning, scheduling and the justification of equipment and tooling is important.
