Accounting Manager

CHARACTER OF THE JOB:

Aerospace equipment manufacturer is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their Clearwater, Florida team. The Accounting Manager will manage a team of 4 that supports several areas of financial reporting, compliance, and analysis. Typical duties include hands-on general ledger work, financial reporting, ad hoc reporting and analysis, and managing exempt and non-exempt staff accountants and clerks for all month-end reporting and analysis. The Accounting Manager must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, a CPA, 5+ years of full general ledger and financial reporting experience, 3+ years of strong supervisory experience, superior computer skills including Microsoft Excel (Access, Great Plains and FRX preferred), the desire to work in a fast-paced environment and excellent organizational skills. Public accounting or government contract accounting experience is preferred.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Manage exempt and non-exempt staff supporting the functional accounting areas (general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, etc.)
  • Month-end close – completed within designated timeframes
  • Analyze the results of operations at a detailed level
  • Assist in developing, preparing and maintaining the annual budget
  • Forecasting cash and expenses
  • Benchmarking and timely reporting of results

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • A 4-year degree in Accounting
  • CPA designation
  • Advanced account reconciliation
  • Advanced month-end close
  • Public accounting or government contract accounting experience
  • Problem solver
  • Excellent organizational skills

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Occasionally lifts various items up to 20 lbs. Requires a combination of mostly sitting, bending, standing, and walking. Occasionally works in awkward positions. Must be mentally alert.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Works in office setting under good conditions (air-conditioned or heated depending upon season of the year). The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

SAFETY HAZARDS:

Constantly working with computers and computer programs, this requires long periods of sitting. Eyestrain may be a factor.
